Our Team

David E. Pendery

David E. Pendery, Partner, was also a Partner in Neary & Pendery Financial for seven years. Neary & Pendery Financial provided sales and consulting services for the five largest customers of Premier Lease and Loan Services, a division of Great American Insurance.

In 1991, Mr. Pendery was one of the founders of Premier Lease and Loan Services, now a division of Great American Insurance Company. He had responsibility for sales and service dealing primarily with automobile manufacturers' captive finance companies.

Prior to this, Mr. Pendery was a Vice President at Progressive Insurance. He served as a Region Manager in the Financial Services Division for eleven years.

Mr. Pendery received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.

David M. Neary

David M. Neary, Partner, was also a Partner in Neary & Pendery Financial for seven years. Neary & Pendery Financial provided sales and consulting services for the five largest customers of Premier Lease and Loan Services, a division of Great American Insurance Company.

In 1991, Mr. Neary was one of the founders of Great American Lender Services, which later became Premier Lease and Loan Services. Premier Lease and Loan Services is now a division of Great American Insurance Company. He managed the captive agency sales organization and was responsible for specific bank and finance company customers.

Prior to this, Mr. Neary was a Vice President at Progressive Insurance. He held the position of Region Manager in the Financial Services Division for over nine years.

Mr. Neary received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

Robert Simpson III

Robert Simpson III, Partner, was employed by Great American Insurance for ten years. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing of the Premier Lease and Loan Division where he managed the captive agency and directed the key client managers.

Prior to this, Mr. Simpson was Senior Vice President of Answer Financial's Affinity Group division, President of Zurich Financial Services Recreational Products division, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Household International.

Mr. Simpson began his insurance career as a Region Manager with Progressive Insurance. His 21 years of experience in the insurance services industry has given him unique expertise in developing creative risk management solutions for lenders.

Mr. Simpson received his Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Ursinus College.

Jim Edmonds, Senior Claims Representative

Jim Edmonds, Senior Claims Representative, has spent 3 years as a Senior Claim Representative of American Risk Services. Jim currently oversees the Claims Department consisting of CPI, EWT and GAP claim representatives.

Prior to joining American Risk Services, Jim spent 10 years with Great American Insurance group beginning as an adjuster rising to the role of a Claims Supervisor. Jim was an adjuster for RVI (Residual Value Insurance), GAP (Guaranteed Auto Protection), EWT (Excess Wear & Tear), MEO (Mortgage Error and Omission) claims. After being promoted to supervisor, Jim oversaw the claims unit that processed these claims.

Tony Farro, Claims Director

Tony Farro, Claims Director, currently oversees the Claims Department, CPI Client Services, and Reinsurance activities for the CPI product. His experience with the product lines offered by ARS spans 13 years.

Among his significant previous positions, Tony worked for 10 years at Great American Insurance Company in the Premier Lease & Loan Services Division and was responsible for the claim handling activity for the EWT and GAP products. Prior to that, he worked in the underwriting departments for American Modern Insurance Group, Great American Insurance Commercial Division, and First American Insurance Company, underwriting various Property & Casualty products including Business Owner Protection, Commercial Auto, Work Comp and Low Value Dwellings.

Tony holds eight industry designations including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Claims (AIC), and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe). He received a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati.

Rich Henderson, Director of Client Services

Rich Henderson, Director of Client Services, has spent 14 years working with Excess Wear & Tear and GAP programs marketed through the automotive dealerships in both Canada and the United States. He has assisted several lender/lessors in product implementations, helping with complex issues such as compliance, marketing, training, and penetration.

In his previous position, Rich served as the Product Manager for the Excess Wear & Tear programs at Great American Insurance Company from 1999 to 2010.

Rich received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Kevin Henkener, Technology Architect

Kevin Henkener, Technology Architect, has spent 12 years as a software engineer in a variety of industries, including financial services, insurance products, manufacturing systems, healthcare management, and logistics services. Additionally, he possesses a vast understanding of software architecture and development and hardware systems architecture.

Among his previous positions, Kevin served as a member of several tiger teams consulting for Silicon Valley-based startups, including Sipree, Inc., a cloud-based commercial payments company. Brand names include Microsoft, Accenture, and PayPal. He was a software engineer at Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions (CBTS), a Cincinnati-based professional and managed services provider.

Kevin Henkener holds a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, both in Computer Science, from the University of Cincinnati.

Lauren Murphy, Client Services Specialist

Lauren Murphy, Client Services Specialist, has spent the last 3 years at American Risk Services fostering business- client relationships within the EWT, GAP and CPI programs. She works directly with the underwriters of the company to ensure that clients' needs are met.

Prior to joining American Risk Services, Lauren worked for 9 years at Great American Insurance Company. She spent 5 years in Client Services, servicing both EWT and CPI clients. She also has a background in Claims, in which she handled first party auto claims and third party auto liability claims.

Lauren received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Cincinnati.

Robbie Russell, Operations Executive

Robbie Russell, Operations Executive, has over 25 years of experience in Operations and Execution Management in the Financial Services and Engineering industries that includes both private and government sectors. At ARS, Robbie manages overall operations, which encompasses customer relations, claims, information technology, financial accounting, reinsurance, project management, human resources, licensing, and training.

Before joining ARS, Robbie was the Assistant Vice President of Program Management at Farmers and Zurich Insurance where he managed large product and system implementation projects and Senior Contracts Manager at Fluor Corporation driving negotiations of major construction contracts. Robbie also served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corp where he managed Public Works programs at Norfolk Naval Station, led operations for Navy Seabee detachments in the Philippines and Kennebunkport Maine, and managed Construction and Engineering projects at the Presidential Retreat Camp David, and the White House Military Office.

Robbie holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Scott Satterthwaite, Business Development Executive

Scott Satterthwaite, Business Development Executive, oversees all business development activities and the analytics efforts for American Risk Services. With more than fifteen years of experience in the automotive finance insurance marketplace, Scott has developed an understanding of customer needs and works to design programs that creatively address customer risk concerns and fee generation aspirations.

Prior to this, Scott was an Assistant Vice President and Product Manager within Great American Insurance Company's Premier Lease and Loan Services operating division, focusing on Residual Value Insurance, Lessor's Contingent and Excess Liability programs, and Collateral Protection coverage. Scott also gained valuable experience working for American Auto Shield, a Vehicle Service Contract Administrator, where he held the position of Vice President of Underwriting.

Scott has earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, both from the University of Cincinnati.

Kirk Saunders, Director of Sales

Kirk Saunders, Director of Sales, is recognized as an industry expert in Collateral Protection Insurance programs. He has been providing risk management products and services to financial institutions and auto dealer finance companies since 1983.

Before joining American Risk Services, Kirk was Executive Vice President of Sales for Great American Insurance Company. He has also held the positions of Vice President of Indirect Lending for Bank of America and Regional Vice President for State National Insurance Company.

Kirk lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He received his Bachelor of Business degree from Texas Tech University.

Rob Stanfield, Director of Analytics

Rob Stanfield, Director of Analytics, has spent 12 years as an analyst in the automotive financial services industry. His experience includes significant involvement with Excess Wear & Tear (EWT), Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP), and Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) products.

Rob Stanfield holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Science degree from The Florida State University.
